Literary synopsis

La vocation suspendue is Pierre Klossowski’s first novel. It is a semiautobiographical book in which the protagonist Jérome abandons his Catholic vocation and returns to secular life as a writer. La vocation suspendue is a novel where a priest can also be an atheist psychoanalyst, a nun can pose as a corpse for an avant-garde artist and where, at its climax, the atheist avant-garde artist is revealed to be a powerful and influential priest.
