Untitled (1962) illustrates the portrait of a laborer on the Aswan Dam project. Saadi Al Kaabi was commissioned by Egypt’s President Nasser (1918-1970) to make a painterly reportage of this monumental feat of engineering. The dam remains still controversial today, in terms of its environmental impact and the loss of productive farmland due to insufficient fertilization and irrigation.
