Literary synopsis With *La Isla de Hidrógeno*, the Spanish artistic duo PSJM, based in Berlin, return to draw together apparently disparate cultural spheres, combining utopic literature of a philosophical, sociological and political nature with the narrative of entertainment in which suspense, violence, love, action and personal relations induce the reader to continuously reflect on today’s society. The novel follows a tradition started by William Morris and his *News from Nowhere* in which the art-theorist is committed to an ideal vision of society through the narrative. Published in a limited edition of 500 copies, it includes aspects from Swedish crime fiction which, in the eyes of PSJM, entail authentic Scandinavian dystopias in which entertainment literature sits quite comfortably with social critique. Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice *La isla de Hidrógeno* [The Hydrogen Island] –a futuristic science-fiction novel, is a part of the project with the same title which has been produced in different media types. Up to now, the work consists of a sculpture produced with a 3D printer, a three-dimensional video with original music (Marco Brosolo), some drawings, inspired on the Japanese stamps, and the actual novel written by PSJM.
