M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Literary synopsis

In the words of Kathe Burkhart: 'The subject of the book is really the repetition compulsion, framed within a dialogic, parallel narrative structure using two voices of the same character at different periods in their lives – as a teenager and in their early thirties. The teenage entries are taken, unabridged from my actual teenage diaries, and given that the personal is political, it is a radical tool of empowerment. Doubling is used to evoke an Identity that is constantly shifting, a reality that is fleeting. As someone who tries to stay in the present, I need to catch it before it disappears. We can know the Other, but we can never know ourselves. I see autobiography then as a kind of fiction.'
