Maria Thereza’s father (...) had the idea a couple of years ago to sell polished Brazilian semi-precious (oh, how I love that term!) stones in New York. He sent some to Maria Thereza to make photographs but then gave up the project, so I got some of the stones and used four of them in a work I made for the Reg Vardy Auto Sales Gallery. Those four stones really were only to illustrate (in a non-illustrative way) a text which was the printed version of a speech I gave in Porto Alegre (“Happy Port”) Brazil, earlier in 2005, at the World Social Forum.” [full text here]
