Literary synopsis

The novel describes three moments in the life of Elena, a young woman that lives in Buenos Aires and works in a big public theatre as secretary. She goes back to her little town to spend summer vacations at her mother house. Once there, she slowly readapts to the place, the language and the landscape, before entering into a journey where present and past get mixed.

Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice

Leticia Obeid’s visual work is intimately related to the acts of writing and reading, although Frente, Perfil y Llanura is not part of a specific artistic project. Quite the contrary, the artist’s wish was to be strictly circulating in literature, in its channels and atmosphere. However it is clearly a text written by a visual artist, where perception (images, sound, touch and smell) is a fundamental part of the whole.
