This series of charcoal drawings, Life in Art (2013), creates an image of the new middle class in Ukraine. In the Kiev museum of modern art, art lovers immortalize themselves through a ‘selfie’, with a work of Rothko or Jake & Dinos Chapman in the background. In this series Chernysheva observes the people surrounding her in the same way as in her other works. The subject, these richer middle class people, do differ from her usual characters.
