Simon Bill was born in Kingston upon Thames, UK, and was educated at Wayneflete Secondary School, St. Martins School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. He has been active as an artist and writer since the early nineties. Emerging alongside the celebrated y.B.a. generation, his career as a painter has included exhibitions in the UK, France, Norway, Germany, Austria, Japan, Australia and the USA. He is currently represented by the Los Angeles gallery Patrick Painter Inc. with whom he exhibited most recently in 2012. His works are held in private and museum collections world-wide, including Britain’s Tate Gallery. Bill’s writing career began with catalogue essays for artists within his per group, including Hilary Lloyd, Gavin Turk and Gary Hume, and turned towards fiction early in the new millennium. His first short story entitled How a Man Schall be Armyed was included in the anthology Frozen Tears (ed. John Russell) published in 2005, and his first novel BRAINS was published in London by Cabinet Gallery in 2011. Bill is currently pursuing a PhD on art and the neuropsychology of visual perception, and is writing a third novel with the working title OPTICAL ILLUSIONS.
