Influenced by De Stijl, cubism and futurism, Flouquet elaborates his own abstract pictorial language from 1919 onwards. He is also active as theorist, as editor of reviews like 7 Arts and as exhibition organizer. He begins making expressionist works in 1928, mainly portraits, and later devotes himself to literature and journalism with particular attention to modern architecture.
