Daniel Knorr

° 1968

Born in Bucharest (Romania).

Daniel Knorr delves into the relationship between performance and everyday life, between public versus private space, between artist and public. Thoughts, ideas and feelings, but identity too, language and text - all contribute to the realization of his art.

In 2008 he provided a remarkable contribution to the Berlin biennial. He made a site-specific installation, a colorful 'necklace' for the monumental roof-cornice of the Neue Nationalgalerie, comprising nearly sixty flags. At first sight, an innocent looking bar-code, but behind which lurks a none too innocent history: each of these flags belongs to one of the many German student fraternities that swam through the wake of the 20th century.
