M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

Angela Su

Lives in Hong Kong (China).

Angela Su received a degree in biochemistry in Canada before pursuing visual arts. The artist’s background in anatomical drawing gives her work a clinical feel. Subjects are presented in topographical perspective so to resemble pages in ancient medical books. Her biological drawings combine the precision of scientific sketches with a mythical sense of aesthetic to question one's position and perception of the ecological and evolutionary system. Her drawings of torture machine, apparatus, human flesh and organs often challenge the audience's visual sensory on the pleasure of pain. Not only has Angela been interested in exploring the perception and imagery of the body, through her performance-based works such as One-Woman-Apartment (2008) and The Hartford Girl and Other Stories (2012), she continuously investigate the tension of the artist's dualistic state of being when under physical endangerment or distress. Angela’s works have been exhibited in the 17th Biennale of Sydney, Rossi & Rossi and Saatchi Gallery in London.
