Alexander Plusnin

Alexander Plusnin was born in the Republic of Buryatia, he was studying painting and graphics at the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute, then moved to Moscow to study at the Baza Institute founded by Anatoly Osmolovsky, one of the most renowned Russian contemporary artists. As Sergey Popov writes in regard to his exhibition Disaster (2016), Plusnin ‘combines the experiencing of corporeal and planetary processes and their contemplation by arranging different materials and techniques – from drawing on wooden icon boards to monumental bas-relief work made out of industrial plasticine’. Since 2016, Plusnin has also been acting as a curator.
