Born in Samara (formerly Kuybyshev) (), died in Almaty ().
Sergey Maslov is known as “the mythmaker” of contemporary art in Kazakhstan. He began his work in the late 1980s as an artist and leader of the art group “Night Tram”, developing variations of oriental mysticism and stylistic eclectics. One of his most legendary myths was his affair with Whitney Houston, which he created with a series of love letter correspondences. Other stories that he translated into his works featured him as an alien, a vampire and a magician. He died unexpectedly in 2003, leaving behind numerous paintings, films, manuscripts, and various projects.
