Edmond Van Dooren
1896 - 1965
Edmond Van Dooren had a similar artistic course to that of his friend Jozef Peeters from the avant-garde years. He also makes symbol-loaded works under theosophical influence before, in around 1921-1922, turning completely to abstract painting that combined influences from both cubism and futurism. Shortly thereafter he goes on to paint neo-romantic visions of the future worthy of a science fiction film set, with the music of Wagner in the background.
